Strands is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We have helped families across Alabama that have a child with medical illnesses, disease or tragedy. Our previous years, we have joined with one family at a time, the Highlight Family, to raise awareness of what they are going through and bring to that family prayer, financial and community support. Our financial assistance helped in the areas of medical expenses, power bills, rent/mortgage and funeral costs. We also remain involved with each family to show God’s love throughout the year. Strands sold items/services donated from businesses during each Highlight Family’s designated time & 100% of sales & donations were given to that family. 

Due to Covid-19 and the effect it has had on our social distancing and economical toll on businesses, Strands is restructuring for our future. We are hoping to see even more families assisted and have larger business sponsorships with our restructure. 

One change for Strands this year is to help children across Alabama receive physical, speech and occupational therapy without the financial stress added to the families. We will provide a year sponsorship to families who are receiving these therapies at The Bell Center. Families must qualify and be selected from the Strands’ application and are pre-approved for The Bell Center’s financial aid.

Our hope is that a year with little-to-no therapy expense will allow the families to enjoy their family quality time with less financial stress.
